The Passing of Mighty Sir Duffy. He’s Gone Now.
Farewell my small but loyal friend. What strange place finds you now,
without me, alone and afraid? Will you see dimly friends from long before
to make you brave and sturdy as you ever were?
If you suddenly need me will you bark
my name? There is one thing that
I am sure of though. We will
remember and care about you
and send the spirits of us a-roving
when you call, to fend the terrors
and make you safe.
Until the place where you dwell
then we dwell will be the same again.
And I shall once again cup your tiny face
and smooth your ears down flat.
