There is a thousand miles between the event, and the eternal blathered solution.
Directly after the horrified complaint comes the impossible solution. The final result: always nothing. Why bother? It’s easy, every politician spouts the same solution because she knows she is off the hook directly afterward. It’s always the solution and its always impossible. 75% of the households in the United States have a gun or guns in there somewhere. That’s enough weaponry for 10 armies. And the voiced solution is always the same because then the clever politician is off the hook. What’s for lunch?
Guns, even automatic weapons, are easy to make. Any backyard machine shop has the ability to turn out a dozen or two, directly from blueprints available to anyone over the internet. In Philadelphia I had occasion to see a blind man assemble a usable “zip” gun out of door hardware in minutes.
Also the U.S. Supreme court has upheld the second amendment (The Right To Bear Arms ) in a forthright and clear manner. Yes citizens have the right to bear arms.
So is there no solution? Yes there are two solutions. One is hard and will take much time and effort. That solution is in education; it will never be a final solution, But it will reduce the carnage if we go at it with enough resolution. The other solution is easy to implement but will result in the dissolution of the United States of America or the final solution to the problem. And that is to chop off the fingers of anyone using a gun to commit a crime.
