This is a picture of the Greenland coast taken on Friday morning. When there is a lot of GREEN (get it?)in this picture we might then assume that the Little Ice Age is over and then perhaps we will enter into a period of global warming.
It appears that the Little Ice Age showed up approximately in the middle of an average sized warm period (size being delineated in years) and put an end to Greenland’s brief adventure into human sustainability and is correcting now toward normal temperatures for that warm period.
It is doubtful that man can survive in the numbers he does now if an ice age occurs. Malthus was wrong when he pointed out that by 1975 starvation would even be occurring in the U.S. because of a scarcity in farmable land. Instead, agricultural science forced by necessity came to the aid of us all and farmers managed to get much greater productivity from the land with improved management techniques and fertilizers. But with logarithmically expanding world population (9,000,000,000) and plummeting temperatures we would eventually reach the limits of technology and the result could be starvation and its attendant illnesses and a massive die off of the human species.
So let’s hear it for global warming. But this ain’t it yet.
