It’s not a good thing that someone was slaughtered in his own bedroom in the presence of his wife. We cannot cheer and be happy about that. It matters not one wit that the person so summarily executed was himself a second hand murderer and a coward, who supported sending overboiled zealots to explode their own bodies in order to kill and maim the innocent, who said he would go to Iraq and bury himself in the body of the eagle and then ran, skipped, and hopped his way into the desolate caves of the Pakistani hinterlands to hide himself from brave face to face combat. It doesn’t matter even that he hid himself behind the vulnerable body of his wife in the presence of her children in the end to dull the impact of what he knew was coming.
It is a good thing at the end that a person who did these things is now gone from the company of humankind. And it must be understood that there are some people so evil in this world that their deaths is the only way to save hundreds and even thousands of lives for the future, but we cannot summon up gladness.
